Isn't it great how a seed of an idea can grow into something creatively amazing? I'll give you an example.
My daughter is an artist. Can't stop drawing (she gets it from her mum!) Anyway, I asked her if she would like one of the products from the store. Ever a girlie girl, she said, "I want this one (pointing to an R8:28 t-shirt) - but with butterflies on". Not just any butterfly, mind - she had a specific colour in her head. And so, I made it for her (you can find the design in store!)
But that seed of an idea began to play in my head. I immediately thought of Romans 12:2 - about how the transformation described in the text comes from the Greek root word that gives us our term metamorphosis - the same phrase used to describe the changing of a caterpillar to a butterfly. The verse in question informs us that God is able to transform us intrinsically by renewing our minds. However the process isn't easy - the preceding verse tell us that we have to live as "living sacrifices" - denying our own desires to fulfil the will of God in our lives.
That got me thinking - what does this look like in real life - what Biblical examples are there of people living fully surrendered to the will of God, no matter what the cost? Out of that thought process came the concept for the "Joseph - Beauty for ashes" and the "Daniel 3 - Tried by the fire" concepts, with accompanying social media campaign material. God is able to indeed take the worst of circumstances to mould and to change those that love Him and in the course of doing so, be glorified in the eyes of many.
Exactly as per the promise of Romans 8:28!
So, without dragging it out too much further, out of that thought process has come R8:28 Concepts - an artistic arm of Berea Clothing that relates to a defined biblical account, tying back into the sentiment that God is in the process of taking evil and dark situations and turning them for good. Just like He did for Joseph. Just like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Just like David. Just like Moses. Just like Jesus!
So, stay tuned - there is more on the way! All this from a seed of an idea, from the mind of a budding artist... look what God can do!
